DIY Roof Leak Repair in Lilburn? Think again.
Lilburn Homeowners: Don't mess with mother nature!
God is very detailed and thorough in his creation. Gravity in Lilburn is one of them. It's always present, always working. In short, one must not ignore gravity because it is the ultimate cause to the affect of falling.
Take they guy in this video. He made several mistakes above ground. Any one of those mistakes could have placed him six feet under ground. Although this video is humorous, it identifies many reasons why not to try repairing a Lilburn roof leak yourself.
Here are his list of mistakes
Mistake 1: He is getting off the roof the wrong way - knee down, belly down, swing the near-side leg over like mounting Silver (Hi-ho-silver... away!!).
Mistake 2: He is stepping on the "do not step" area of the ladder. Enough said.
Mistake 3: Ladder is too short. In this roofing video, you can clearly see that the ladder is waaaay to short. It appears that it needs to be about four feet taller. Use a roofing ladder at the proper length. The ladder should extend about one foot beyond the roof entrance side.
Mistake 4: No ladder spotter. Someone needed to stabilize his ladder. While dismounting from a roof, you must always have a non-jokester holding the ladder - one foot on the ground and the other on the bottom rung - both hands on opposite sides of ladder - not texting while spotting.
Mistake 5: Do you see any safety gear like a roofing harness with ridge bracket, etc.?
Mistake 6: Did he really think that a flimsy aluminum gutter would stop his gravity-induced descent?
Mistake 7: Can you say flip-flops, house slippers??!!? What an idiot. Click here for video source:
